Superstorm Sandy: How You Can Help

Sandy post

Rain. Wind. Fire. Flood. All combined, these acts of nature incurred heartbreak in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. Everybody wants to help during a disaster. But timing, funds and resources can be a challenge for many seeking to contribute. Mobile is the ideal solution to engage many people through the use of a single tool.

Consider these 3 tips on how to get the most out of your mobile relief and recovery campaigns:

1. Inform – Reach out to your Mobile Community and tell them how they can help. Send links to blog posts, articles or state a simple call-to-action.

2. Engage – Send a text message to supporters to sign up for volunteer activities. Let people know how to drop off in-kind donations. Support each other with personal tributes to honor those impacted.

3. Solicit – Ask for mobile donations. Send out a text campaign. Share the call-to-action on social media and tell people how they can help.

Not sure what to do next? Listen to what your supporters are asking you about. Check out what’s trending on Twitter. See what the news is reporting. Then figure out where - or how - your organization fits in the recovery process. As you set up your communications plan, use what you learned to build your mobile campaign. Your text messages will be relevant and timely – an ideal scenario to drive action.
