Insights to Power Social Good

Where is mGive Going From Here?

Nestled in the eclectic Lower Highlands neighborhood overlooking the glossy high-rises of downtown Denver, mGive calls an 1896 red brick building “home.” We recently took a good hard look at ourselves, asking, “Where is mGive going from here?” A question many, if not all, organizations face at some point in their growth cycle.

Our answer to the age-old question came when a team member casually mentioned in a sales meeting, “You can’t know where you’re going, unless you know where you've been.” And with that, we collectively began looking at our past in anticipation of our journey ahead.

It’s often easy to forget that mGive, along with the mobile donation channel, was founded only a few years ago. Our goal of making a difference through mobile was quickly embraced by the nation’s top wireless carriers, not to mention The Red Cross, The United Way and hundreds of other nonprofits, big and small. Soon after we opened shop in 2005, mGive was placed on a steady path of SMS (text) donation, engagement, advocacy and innovation.

Today: A few of our favorite things at mGive include the historic redbrick office building, Rockies baseball, flip flops, Colorado mountains and of course, our mobile phones.

Six years later, we’re proud of how far we’ve come. mGive may no longer be considered a newbie in the industry, but we’re certainly not done evolving. At approximately 40 team members strong, we’ve seen the fruits of our labors and realize just how big an impact we can make together. The proof is in our impending product roll-outs, enhanced client resources and growing team of diverse, creative and passionate individuals. mBlog will highlight a number of mGive milestones in the coming months. We hope you follow us for a little inspiration, education and perhaps even some good story telling.

At the end of the day, our goal for the future remains the same as it did in 2005: to empower nonprofits with mobile technology. We continue to find innovative ways to achieve that goal. It’s the reason why we keep on plugging away, one SMS at a time.
