Text BELL to 50555 to become a first-year Mobile Bell Ringer

The Salvation Army DFW Metroplex Command and the Salvation Army Tidewater Area Command are seeking passionate individuals to help spread Christmas joy to everyone in their community while on the go this holiday season. They are encouraging individuals to take part in a traditional campaign using an unconventional technique by turning their mobile phone into a Mobile Red Kettle and becoming a first-year Mobile Bell Ringer.

Using mGive’s new mRaiser tool, these Salvation Army chapters are empowering supporters to take action by collecting donations on behalf of the organization. mGive’s mRaiser is a new peer-to-peer fundraising tool that encourages friendly competition among supporters who set donation goals and utilize their networks to collect mobile micro-donations to reach that goal.

Becoming a Mobile Bell Ringer is easy! Interested participants can simply text the word BELL to 50555 to get information about registering. A link will be sent to their mobile phone where they can register, download a Mobile Bell Ringer “ringing bell” ring tone, collect donations, track donations collected, and compare their progress against the progress of other Mobile Bell Ringers. Registration to become a Mobile Bell Ringer can also be done online at http://m.mgive.com/mbr.

Once registered, participants set a donation goal and utilize their networks to collect $10 mobile donations to reach their goal. To collect a donation, a participant simply enters a friend’s or family member’s mobile number into their Mobile Bell Ringer webpage, triggering a donation request that gets sent to the soon-to-be-donor’s mobile device via text message. The donor will be asked to confirm the $10 donation to The Salvation Army by replying to the text message with the word YES. All proceeds raised from this campaign will help provide food, clothing, shelter and toys to local families in need in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas and Hampton Roads, Virginia metro areas.

You too can become a first-year Mobile Bell Ringer and take the pledge to find 10 friends to give $10 to the Salvation Army this holiday season.
