We love writing on the innovative ways our nonprofit partners are promoting their Mobile Giving campaigns. Coaches vs. Cancer is conducting a unique promotion to launch their mobile fundraising campaign. Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) that empowers basketball coaches, their teams, and local communities to make a difference in the fight against cancer. The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches nationwide to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living through year-round awareness efforts, fundraising activities, and advocacy programs.
As part of their promotional efforts, Coaches vs. Cancer has filmed a video in which Jeremy Pargo of the Gonzaga Bulldogs encourages fans to donate $5 by texting CVC to 20222. Given that Pargo's jersey number is 2, he brings a note of humor and solidifies the call to action by joking, "that's CVC to me-0-me-me-me." Pargo is a great figure to be promoting this particular campaign because of his star status in the college basketball scene. Even if fans don't donate on the spot they are likely to remember the 20222 short code and spread the word about the texting campaign to friends and family. Mobile donations for Coaches vs. Cancer are powered by mGive.
