Today is Wear Red Day, also known as Go Red for Women Day, a national event supporting the American Heart Association where people wear red and donate to fight heart disease and stroke. Every year, millions of women, companies, organizations and cities across America support and take part in this day to raise awareness. Studies show that when women are aware of their risk they are more likely to take action, and these efforts to raise awareness have proven to be successful. In 2000, 34% of women knew heart disease was the Number 1 killer of women, and it has increased to 57% by 2006 according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. One way to increase awareness is through mobile, and the American Heart Association has turned to mGive to help support ongoing research and education for women and heart disease. This year, even if you didn't wear red, you can still support the cause through your mobile.
Mobile donations for the American Heart Association are powered by mGive. Text RED to 90999 to give $5!
