Last month, The Family Violence Prevention Fund (FVPF) asked the nation to join in making the first annual National RESPECT! day on September 19. This new observance is designed to raise awareness of domestic and dating violence and to encourage positive discourse about prevention by teaching respect.
The launch included employee rallies at more than 600 Macy's stores and on 135 college campuses nationwide. The aim of the campaign was to generate over 10 million acts of RESPECT! for the 10 million children who witness violence in their homes each year.
One main component of the RESPECT! project is a mobile donation campaign where supporters could mGive RESPECT to 41010 to donate $5.
Here at mGive we love it when our partner organizations use our mobile donation technology in exciting ways. For FVPF's Give RESPECT! campaign they pinpointed mobile donations and acts of respect on an interactive map. This is done through a service provided by mGive that essentially tags the area code where the user made the donation.
