Let me start by saying I’m your typical Millennial. Let me also say that I absolutely love nonprofits.  Really.  I talk with them every single day and these are people who don’t just donate money, or a day or two of their time a year.  They dedicate their whole life to helping others.  They’re hard working people who care deeply.  They know every dollar counts; and executive directors and board members have to justify how those dollars are spent.  It’s not easy.  I don’t envy their job, but I sure do respect them for it. I’m 35 – and so technically I’m between a Millennial and a Generation X’er.  I have traits of both however I think I lean slightly more Millennial than Xer.  I use social media, text, and am more connected than ever before.  But, I also remember a time when I wasn’t staring at my phone like I want to dive into it.  I’ve even put myself in Facebook timeout before.

Posted by Lori Rizzo on Feb 20, 2015 12:48:00 PM

Awareness campaigns are a pretty common event among most nonprofits. Whether it is an awareness day, week or month, there is an awareness campaign for pretty much everything.  Are people really more motivated to partake in something because it has great exposure? Well, if I have learned anything from the NFL’s Pink October and ALS’ Ice Bucket Challenge campaigns, it is an unequivocal YES!  How can you as a nonprofit leader use this momentum to help increase participation from your supporters not only during the awareness campaign but all year long too?

Posted by Yosuke Carter on Jul 11, 2014 3:42:00 PM

donor-centric-fundraising-01Imagine if you could attract donors who not only donated to your nonprofit, but got their friends and family to donate as well.

This might be something that might (or might not) sound good in theory, but how can nonprofit leaders put this into practice?

Whether you're a nonprofit or for-profit business, this timeless formula is the foundation for any desired result:

Thoughts + Beliefs + Actions = Results

3 Things Your Executive Director Wants to Know About Mobile and Social Media

Posted by Yosuke Carter on Jun 13, 2014 5:46:00 PM

3-things-social-media-mobile-01Picture this. Two Development Directors (A & B) each spend $10,000 on a widget that is designed to improve fundraising results. Development Director A doesn’t quite understand how the widget works and rarely uses it. On the other hand, Development Director B educates himself (and even gets help from people who know most) about the widget. He uses it frequently and is constantly finding new ways to improve desired outcomes.

At the end of the year, the Development Directors share the ROI analysis with their Executive Director. Guess how their conversations went?
