During the Golf Channel's Children's Miracle Network Classic Tournament coverage a text donation campaign will be conducted benefiting Children's Miracle Network.  The Golf Channel's anchors and hosts will ask viewers to grab their cell phone and text "KIDS" to 90999 to donate $5.00 to Children's Miracle Network and you can help save kids lives.

mGive MMA Global Award Finalist

We are pleased to announce that the Mobile Marketing Administration has nominated Mobile Accord's mGive as a finalist for a MMA Global Award.

The MMA received submissions from companies around the globe across 12 categories. Finalists were selected by the MMA Awards Selection Committee comprised of global industry leaders from wireless carriers, technology and content providers, agencies and industry publications.

Mobile Accord is a finalist in the Innovation for Creativity in Technology category for our work with Keep a Child Alive.  mGive launched the first ever ongoing campaign that allowed wireless subscribers to donate funds to nonprofit foundations.  We created, contemplated, designed, developed, and implemented the technology necessary to allow Keep a Child Alive to collect donations through the Alicia Keys 2008 concert series.  The campaign raised over $40,000 to help children in Africa who are the victims of the devastation caused by the AIDS virus.

"The quality of submissions we receive for our awards program continues to increase as the mobile marketing channel matures." said Laura Marriott, president of the MMA.  The awards will be presented at the Annual Global Awards dinner and ceremony on November 13 in San Diego, concluding the MMA's Mobile Marketing Forum.

Mobile Accord is a pioneer in the nonprofit space, and has been working towards the vision of raising funds through mobile technology since 2005. Mobile Accord empowers and enables charities to harness the power of mobile technology to promote and fundraise for social causes from an almost ever-increasing donor base.  Mobile Accord now has over 45 mobile giving campaigns live in market, and ever more going through the approval process.

mGive Launches Facebook Giving 2.0

Today we launched an update to our Facebook Giving application that offers expanded functionality, and increased branding for our mobile giving partners.  The Facebook application is available to mGive users only and is included in all mGive plans.

Not only does mGive's Facebook Giving application inform users about the organization's mission and goals, it allows Facebook Giving users to show support for the organization on their profile, and gives them the option to donate to the nonprofit via their mobile phone.

To add the application search Giving in Facebook, or visit-

Once you add the application, you have the ability to choose from a large list of nonprofits. This list grows every day, so check back if your charity isn't listed.  You can also send us an email to request a specific nonprofit.

Each Nonprofit has a profile page where Facebook users can learn more and contribute to their charity.  When the user enters their phone number, they receive a text message confirming their $5 donation.  Upon confirmation, the donation is charged to their cell phone bill.

To add the Facebook Giving box to your main profile wall, visit the main Facebook Giving page and click Add to Profile.  There is also an option to add it as a tab on your profile.

Also on the Facebook Giving application page and user profile, statistics are displayed on how much money you have raised, how many people you have recruited, and how much your network has raised.

mGive Launches New Mobile Giving Campaigns

Today, mGive announces the launch of SIX new mobile donation campaigns. That brings the total number of mobile giving campaigns launched for the month of October to 21! We are hoping to launch a few more by the end of the month to make it a record number of giving campaigns launched. mGive is currently the only company in the US with live mobile giving campaigns.

These campaigns are poised to tackle the giving season with full force, and we look forward to assisting them along the way!

mGive Launches First Ever TV Commercial

We are very proud to announce the launch of mGive's first television commercial with nonprofit partner Keep a Child Alive.  Keep a Child Alive is an urgent response to the AIDS pandemic ravaging Africa. With more than 28 million dead and 15 million orphaned, the disease continues, wiping out whole societies, threatening economic infrastructure and creating tragic family devastation.

The commercial will be running on MTV and MTV2 during primetime.

Poverty Action Day

Today is Blog Action Day. It is the day that bloggers all around the world look to highlight an issue. This year the issue is Poverty. Poverty is defined as deprivation of common necessities that determine the quality of life.  Here's some facts about Poverty, thanks to The Seminal.
    • More than 800 million people suffer from malnutrition.
    • The United States spends 0.16% of its budget on aid to poor countries, the second lowest percentage among all developed countries.
    • 35,000 children a day die from diseases related to malnutrition, or 1 every 2 seconds.
    • On any given night, 750,000 Americans do not have shelter, or 1 in 400
    • Over three billion people (roughly half the world's population) live on less than two dollars a day.
In preparation of our Blog Action post, we started going through our list of mGive partners to see which ones deal specifically with poverty.  We found that given the above definition, everyone deals with poverty in one way or another.  Whether it is The Richie Madden Foundation building a playground for underprivileged kids or Food Bank of the Rockies providing programs to specifically address hunger related issues.Be  Poverty can be tackled through many different strategies, both locally and abroad.


That's what today is about, but for an organization, how do you get people to act? The key is to allow people to give whenever they feel moved.  This is the opportunity that mobile fundraising offers.  Mobile Giving offers a way to interface with a completely new audience while introducing a new donation channel to existing supporters. The best thing is that this donation process direct to the donor, and they are requesting information from you.  Never before has there been such a direct channel between organizations and donors.

Blog Action Day: Can Twitter Eliminate Poverty?

In honor of Blog Action Day (today), John Haydon has written an article exploring the relationship between technology and social activism. Citing Twitter as an example, he discusses how online social networks are making it increasingly easy for individuals with common humanitarian concerns to connect, communicate, and spread the word. It's clear that new technologies are paving the way for increased communication about serious issues, but does this translate into an increase in social activism?

Haydon believes it does, and he cites mGive's mobile donation technology as an example because it allows millions of individuals to take "bit-sized" action. As a second example, Haydon points to Social Actions, an online forum that connects concerned individuals with actionable opportunities.
