The perfect fundraising effort has many components. Leave an element out and your final result may not be what you expect. Learn to perfect each of these 10 must-have steps and your efforts will yield better results every time.

Step 3: Tell your story

There are so many groups trying to raise funds for so many wonderful things. And sometimes, the magnitude of wonderful is the story behind it. Dig deep. Find all the reasons people need to be a part of your effort. Then tell a story so compelling it would be hard not to become a supporter.

mTip: Use mobile to capture mission moments. Start a text campaign to encourage supporters to submit photos from their cause based experiences right from their mobile phone to your social media outlets or website.

Step 4: Personalize your message: tell their story

Every cause, whether directly or indirectly, affects people, animals or the environment. Too many times we hear stories of why we should help support a nonprofit, but we are distanced from the cause we are supporting. Take the opportunity to identify what resonates with your supporters and make messages as personal as possible.
